Summer School: Electives
Spanish 1 (1 Unit)

2 hours a day until course is completed or session ends.
This course will introduce high school students to the fundamental sounds, structures, patterns, and symbols necessary to communicate in the target language. Students will acquire basic listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills and develop a growing knowledge and sensitivity to the cultural elements, including geography, history, behaviors, and values, which distinguish the countries and societies represented by that language, understanding and sensitiivy.
Spanish 2 (1 Unit)

2 hours a day until course is completed or session ends.
This course will review, reinforce, and expand upon the language and cultural learning that took place during the first-year course. Greater emphasis will be placed upon communicating more accurately and effectively in the four modalities - listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Students will significantly expand their knowledge and correct use of vocabulary, idiomatic expressions, and grammatical structures, and deepen their cultural understanding and sensitivity.
